The art of public space

 The quality of public space significantly affects not only the appearance of cities and municipalities, but also their functioning and prosperity. An example of this is the village of Dolní Břežany. Representative and generous spaces allow you to participate in social events and enable a wide range of activities. This is not the limit however, the public space is being improved by the art, and continuously there is a very interesting collection of contemporary sculpture in the open air.

Corpus Angelicus (Stefan Milkov)

The festival Sculpture Line 2016 brought to the Celtic Park in Dolní Břežany the work of Corpus Angelicus (The Body of the Angel) by Stefan Milkov, an academic sculptor, painter, graphic designer and designer working in the Czech art scene since the second half of the 1980s and would have to be one of the most interesting representatives of contemporary Czech sculpture work. His works are represented in galleries and private collections in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Stars (Čestmír Suška)

In the public area of Dolní Břežany you will also find the work of the renowned contemporary artist Čestmír Suška called Stars.

Nest (Zdeněk Sendler)

In the central part of the Celtic Park, an object called the Nest depicts four cardinal points, four seasons. There are paths leading to this central place, with gates symbolically separating the outer and inner worlds. The work was designed by landscape architect Zdeněk Sendler, who is the creator of the Celtic Park.

Hyena (Jan Dostál)

Hyena (Jan Dostal) (31.8.2017) At the Sculpture Line 2017 festival, a statue called Hyena was installed in the central part of Dolní Břežany, created by Jan Dostál. The sculpture is made up of tiny geometric elements and is not sealed thus being able to see the space internally.

Chair (Alexandra Koláčková)

In 2015, the village joined the unique Scuplture line sculpture festival, which presents sculptures and art objects by leading domestic and international filmmakers "under the open sky". As part of this year, the village received a large-format sculpture entitled Armchair by Alexandra Koláčková. This sculpture adorns the Brajanske square.

Soukol (Tomáš Skála)

V červnu 2018 byla na hladinu jezírka v Keltském parku instalována socha Soukol, kterou pro tuto malebnou vodní plochu navrhl sochař Tomáš Skála. Jeho návrh zvítězil ve výtvarné soutěži, kterou Obec Dolní Břežany uspořádala v roce 2016. Socha Soukol zaujala také odbornou veřejnost a byla zakomponována do unikátního sochařského festivalu Sculpture Line 2018.
